Hanafusa Mayu is a singer-songwriter based in Osaka who has been gaining attention and presence through numerous tie-ups with TV stations in Kansai and Osaka, local government projects, and corporate tie-ups such as the ambassador for the popular Osaka souvenir snack "Tako Patie". Not only in the Kansai area, but since the COVID-10 pandemic, she has been actively performing live in the Kanto and Tokai areas as well. Last fall, she released her long-awaited 4th album "Shikisai" in October, and immediately after the release, she started a two-pronged tour consisting of the "Toumei-Osaka Release Tour" and the "Two-Man Live Tour". The tour also included her first performances in Fukuoka and Shimane, and the long span of the double-pronged tour finally ended on Friday, April 2th with a triumphant solo performance at Namba Hatch in her hometown of Osaka.
Since it was a local performance, the atmosphere at Namba Hatch was homely and gentle even before the show started. A little after the scheduled time, Hanafusa Mayu and the band members appeared on stage as the SE played in the venue. Immediately after that, a beautiful and soft piano melody played, and the live started with "Eryngium", the lead track of the 4th album "Shikisai". Then, they performed "Irodori Canvas" and "October" in the order of the CD without any pause. Although it has been about half a year since the release of the new album, the set list made us realize once again that today was the final performance of the long tour. After performing three songs, the first MC of the day started, and he greeted with a big smile, "Everyone! How are you?!". In response to this excitement, the audience all stood up at once, and as the voltage rose rapidly, they performed the up-tempo song "Merry-go-round". In this block, they entertained us with their skillful staging, mixing new and old songs such as "Toriko", "Who am I", "Hakoniwa", and "Urasabairashi". Hats off to Hanafusa Mayu's high level of expressiveness, as they firmly fit each song with a different expression.
After that, the band left the stage and Hanafusamayu's solo performance began. This performance was overwhelming. She performed three songs with just an acoustic guitar: "Let's Talk," "I Want to See You," and "Blisters." Each of her MCs while performing the songs had a strong story and message, capturing the hearts of the audience and drawing them into the world of the songs. It was like watching a live reading theater performance.
After the acoustic corner, the band was called back in and the second half of the concert began. The up-tempo, high-energy songs "Tako Patie no Uta" and "Primula" had the audience standing up in a complete change from the acoustic performance up until that point. During "Be Free," everyone held their towels up high and waved them around, creating an incredible sense of unity in the venue.
After performing 14 songs so far, the concert is finally drawing to a close. Here, they perform "Spring and Departure," "Letter of Thanks," and "Asterism," which highlight the sound of the violin. Hanafusamayu's clear voice and each and every word of the lyrics, along with the sound of the violin, penetrate straight into the heart. Then, for "Whenever the Stars Fall," the entire audience erupted in a chorus, waving their hands from side to side, marking the end of the main part of the concert.
The still-heated venue inevitably called for an encore. When he reappeared with his bandmates, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude and performed two songs, "Darling I love you" and "Towards Glory". When he stood on stage and shouted with joy, "Thank you so much for today!", his sense of fulfillment, satisfaction, and relief at having safely reached the final tour, as well as his gratitude to the many fans who supported him, were condensed, and it was impressive to see him explode with emotion with his whole body. The performance lasted more than two hours, and he generously performed all 2 songs from his 2th album, "Colors", and painted a colorful and vivid performance on stage, befitting the word "color" in the title of this tour. The beautiful and colorful songs and performance skills, including new and old songs, convinced us of his high potential as a singer-songwriter, and it was a performance that made us look forward to even more leaps in the future!
