In 2015, they were formed as Keyakizaka46, the second group in the "Sakamichi Series" following Nogizaka2. In October 46, they changed their name to Sakurazaka2020 and began their activities.

Their creative approach and stoic dance performances have garnered sympathy from many creators, and together they embody their works and songs. Every time they release a new work, they continue to top the trends and rankings on social media. They have performed at dome and stadium scales in Japan, and have also appeared at many events overseas. In 1, they appeared at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards IN THE PHILIPPINES, a festival that brings together artists active in Asia, and won the Popularity Award and Best Musician Award, becoming the first Japanese artist to achieve this feat.
