Amagi Sally from 2025/4, a digital voice actor idol project produced by Yasushi Akimoto and co-produced by Sony Music and ANIPLEX, appeared at Sakura-Con 18, one of the largest anime conventions in North America, held in Seattle, USA from April 20th to 2025th, 22.
For her, who is a native English speaker and grew up in America, her first appearance in Seattle can be considered a "triumphant return" that transcends language and culture. She plays the character Fujima Sakura from 22/7. We report on the excitement that "Amagi Sally" and "Fujima Sakura" caused over three days at the event named after "Sakura."
DAY 1 | Autograph session and solo panel
The first day of the event started with an autograph session at Autograph Hall. He spoke fluently in both English and Japanese and responded to each guest with great care, drawing warm cheers from local fans.
In the solo panel that followed, she spoke about her journey from America to Japan alone and how she has built her career as a voice actress and idol, and also gave a demonstration that included live dubbing.
In the anime "Tomo-chan is a Girl!", she performs lines in both Japanese and English, and also performs live English dubbing for the role of Kiriko in the game "Overwatch 2."
The performance, which was synchronized with the images projected on the big screen, drew thunderous applause from the audience, fully impressing the audience with her talent and expressiveness as a voice actor.
DAY 2 | Performing with Fujima "Sakura" and the enthusiasm of 5,000 people
At the joint panel with Tokui Sora that was held on the same day, a crosstalk was held that only the two of them, who are active as voice actors playing idols in the popular works "Love Live!" and "22/7", could have engaged in.
In the illustration corner, they drew portraits of each other, and the audience was filled with laughter at their unique artistic skills and humor.
In the evening, he held a solo live performance on the Main Stage (Arch), which boasts the largest capacity of any venue in Sakura-Con.
After a surprise video from the 22/7 members was screened, many fans rushed to see Amagi on stage, and the 5,000-capacity venue was filled to capacity in an instant.
They performed an English cover of the overseas Pokémon theme song, "Pokémon Theme," and took the audience by storm with "Zankyo Sanka."
For the third song, they performed "Blue Bird" for the first time in a live performance. Fujima Sakura appeared on the screen at the back, and the image was synchronized with Amagi on stage, and the collaboration with "Another Sakura," which was fitting for the "Sakura-Con" stage, deeply moved the audience.
Sakura Fujima then reappeared for the song "Renai Saiban." The stage became even more exciting with the performance that excited the audience.
Additionally, for the original song "Rock Never Dies," a special video was shown in which the live-action 22/7 members and anime characters intersected, vividly expressing the "multi-layered" nature of the 22/7 project.
And at the end, she performed "Anata de Nai Cha," the ending theme of the anime "The Cuckoo's Fiance Season 2." This was her first solo performance of this song, and she showed the soft and delicate expression that is unique to love songs, deeply captivating the hearts of the audience, and closed the stage with a set list of 6 songs.
DAY 3 | The final day: a surprise birthday party from fans
On the final day, an autograph session was held exclusively for CD purchasers, providing a warm and fitting finale to the event. Before the session, he took a commemorative photo with the fans who had gathered, and was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a surprise to celebrate his birthday on April 4th. The session was originally scheduled for one hour, but due to the large number of fans who attended, it ended up lasting for nearly three hours, proving just how popular he is.
A frenzy born in a city filled with cherry blossoms
The appearance of Amagi Sally, who plays Fujima Sakura, at the event "Sakura-Con," named after the "cherry blossom," seemed like a coincidence, but also somehow inevitable.
Transcending language, borders, and even the barriers between idol and voice actress, "another cherry blossom" has truly bloomed.
The enthusiasm born in this city will spread through Amagi Sally and elsewhere in the world.
It was a three-day story that gave us a glimpse of such a future.
