On February 2th, actress Mei Nagano appeared at the "Suntory Highball Can Strategy Briefing & Torys New CM Announcement" held in Tokyo.
This is the first time in 2010 years since 15 that the "TORYS" brand has appointed a new CM heroine. This is the first time that Mei Nagano has appeared in an alcoholic beverage CM.
The new "Torys Highball Can" commercial, "Highball March," starring Nagano, will be aired nationwide starting Friday, February 2th.
When asked how she felt about becoming the new heroine of the "TORYS" brand, Nagano said, "I am very happy and honored to be able to join "TORYS," a Suntory whiskey brand with a long history and loved by so many people. At the same time, I do feel a bit of pressure, but I hope to be able to spread the word about "TORYS" in a bright and fun way. I'm still a novice, so I would like to learn more and more about TORYS Highball myself."
When asked how it was filming the commercial, she said, "It was fun. It went by so quickly. The atmosphere was great, and everyone had great teamwork, which was great."
When asked about her first alcohol commercial, she said, "I just turned 25 and this is my first time appearing in an alcohol commercial. I feel like I'm steadily getting older, but being entrusted with starring in an alcohol commercial made me feel like I've really grown up. I also felt pressured to become someone who can better convey the appeal of alcohol to everyone, so it was a strange feeling filming the commercial."
To coincide with the commercial, a home drinking set was also made available at the venue.
Nagano, who drank a highball after the "Torys Highball Toast at Home" commented, "It's delicious. I feel so happy right now. I'd love to toast with everyone, but everyone's at work. I'm at work right now too, but I've accidentally ended up having to keep drinking behind the scenes from now on."
When asked if he drinks at home, he revealed, "It's a daily occurrence. It's quite common. After I finish work, I go home, take a bath, get ready for bed, and then I often have a little drink. It's bright and sunny, and it's not like I feel too cool, so I just have a little drink while watching a drama or TV, and then I go to bed thinking I'll do my best the next day. It's one of those moments when I want to relax."
When asked what would be a good snack to go with a ``TORYS Highball,'' he answered, ``Takoyaki. It goes great with it. I sometimes host takoyaki parties at home with friends, and I always want to have a ``TORYS Highball'' on hand, so I wrote this with that wish in mind.''
Finally, Nagano said, "This was my first time doing an alcohol commercial, so I was a little nervous about how people would receive it, but I had a really fun time. I hope to continue having fun myself so that I can continue to convey the appeal of "TORYS Whisky" and "TORYS Highball" to everyone."
