Takane no Nadeshiko, a 10-member idol group whose sound is produced by the creator unit HoneyWorks, held their largest solo concert to date, "Takane no Nadeshiko Solo Live 2 ~Cute for life~" supported by KOJI, at the National Yoyogi Stadium Second Gymnasium on Friday, February 14th.
It has been about two and a half years since the group was formed in the summer of 2022. The 2 members, Nao Shirotsuki, Suzumi Suu, Momoko Hashimoto, Sara Hazuki, Riri Haruno, Erika Higashiyama, Hina Hinatabata, Miku Hoshitani, Momona Matsumoto, and Himeri Momiyama, performed their largest solo concert to date on the special day of Valentine's Day.
Fans were welcomed into the arena and stands, which were open in all directions, surrounding the center stage, and the overture began with the sound of a clock ticking, signaling the start of the show. Then, the members appeared from the front row of the stands in fancy casual-style costumes and sang their cute signature song, "Sorry for Being Cute." They then moved to the center stage, thrilling the audience with their sudden close-up performance. As they sang a series of love songs reminiscent of Valentine's Day, such as "Girls are Strong" and "First Love," the 360 fans responded to the members with synchronized calls of "I love you!"
After a brief blackout, the lights came on on the center stage, and the members sat on their chairs, holding books. Higashiyama and Hazuki opened the book and sang "Otomedomo yo." They were captivated by the performance, which made the most of the center stage and evoked the story of dreamy girls. In the next song, "Koi wo Shitteiru Sekai," a gift box appeared on the stage, and when the box was opened, heart-shaped confetti rained down on the audience.
At this point, the live show moved to a competition between two chocolate-themed teams. The White Chocolate Team (Hazuki, Haruno, Higashiyama, Hinata, Matsumoto) was sweet and cute in their white uniform-like costumes, while the Bitter Chocolate Team (Jotsuki, Suzumi, Hashimoto, Hoshitani, Momiyama) was cute with a little devilish coolness mixed in. The White Chocolate Team performed "Senpai" first, and then came down to the arena, quickly closing in on the audience again. During the interlude, each member excited the fans with a sweet catchphrase. However, the Bitter Chocolate Team also performed "Sukitchi no!" in a slightly cool way, leaving an impression of over-reaching sexiness. Then, the 2 members performed "Kawaiitte Ietai" again, with a call-and-response battle between Bitter and White, and the venue was filled with the cuteness of the 1 members, who exclaimed, "So that means we're all cute!"
After changing into their costumes, they went on stage to talk about the cute parts of the group. Behind-the-scenes stories were revealed, with the theme of "The cute parts of the members." "It was so cute when Momoko asked me, 'How long has it gotten?' when I was growing my hair out" (Suzumi), "When we were returning from Osaka on the Shinkansen, Himeri, who was sitting next to me, had her eyes open and was sleeping, and her face was so cute that I took a video of her and showed it to everyone" (Hashimoto), and other behind-the-scenes stories filled the room with laughter.
The next two songs, "What is a Boy's Purpose?" and "Motechen!", were a photo opportunity, and fans took photos of the cute members in their own way. The official mascot "Tenyan" also appeared on stage, and they performed "Oshi no Mahou" together.
Up until this point, the performances had been like a condensed version of the cuteness of winter girls, but the next song was the rock song "Ai no Virus," the theme song for the initiation horror movie "Akuki no Virus," which is currently being shown in theaters nationwide, and the song started with a duet by Higashiyama and Momiyama. Each member sang their solo parts with a dignified look on their face, filling the audience and the stage with a dramatic atmosphere.
The straightforward youthful love song "Byoumei Koi Wasurai" will be performed live for the first time, and they will continue to appeal to fans from all directions with the happy aura-filled "Love Me More Than Me."
After the MC, the atmosphere of the live changed completely, and as a dance track started to play, the members appeared from the audience wearing black hooded gowns covering their faces, based on the concept of vampires. Every time the spotlight shone on them as they danced, a roar erupted.
In a gothic atmosphere, they performed their first single since forming, "Anti-Fan." Impressing the fans with the group's strength even more, they took off their gowns and launched into a performance of "Adrenaline Game," "Battle Spirit," and "Live Beautifully." During the chorus of "Adrenaline Game," they repeated the customary call-and-response of "Yurase! Takamine no Nadeshiko" at high volume, and in the songs that followed, the members and fans came together to further raise the excitement.
The main part of the concert came to a close with a unified performance of "I'M YOUR IDOL," which began with Higashiyama's words, "Let's continue to make memories together with Takamine no Nadeshiko."
After a short while, the members stood on stage for the encore, unveiling their new pink and cream-based costumes for the first time. "It's like a young lady's outfit, and it's really cute," said Matsumoto. They performed their new song "Cute for life," which was also unveiled for the first time. The electro-pop love song once again had fans intoxicated by the sweet feeling of the live performance.
In the final MC, the bands were announced to be performing together in five cities nationwide in April at the Takaneko Fes Vol. 4 Business Trip Edition, along with the gorgeous co-stars and the Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka tour "Takaneko no Nadeshiko Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka Tour 5 - Spring Ride -" to be held in May. The Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka tour will cover three shows in Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo in just nine days.
Furthermore, as a surprise to the members, it was announced that they would be holding a 9rd anniversary solo concert at Makuhari Messe Makuhari Event Hall in Chiba on Sunday, September 7th, which elicited screams and cheers.
Regarding the decision to hold the 3rd anniversary live concert, which will be the largest in the group's history, captain Momiyama said with a smile, "This one-man show was also our first attempt at a 360-degree venue, so we had been living with the idea that this was our biggest challenge, but it seems there was more to come." She vowed to show us an even more grown-up version of "Takaneko," saying, "I feel like we can overcome it if we're all together, so I'd be happy if you would continue to lend us your strength."
In the midst of the excitement, the members walked around the audience and gave autographed balls to the fans. Finally, they closed out the Valentine's Day live with their first performance of "Koakuma Datte Kamanai!", which began streaming on Sunday, February 2th.
It was a special live performance that left the impression that Takaneko will continue to move forward as a group of 2025, striving to reach new heights in 10.
