On February 2th, a press conference was held in Tokyo to commemorate the release of actress Ohara Yuno's 7th debut anniversary memorial photo book "√15" (Shogakukan).
The photos were taken by actress and photographer Fumi Nikaido. The book is packed with photos that capture the fresh perspective of costumes and hair and makeup suggested by Nikaido, as well as bold poses that Ohara tried for the first time, making it a fitting memorial to the miraculous collaboration between the two.
When asked how she felt when she heard that Nikaido Fumi would be the photographer for the photo book, Ohara said, "I had been photographed by Spirits once, and this was the second time I've had the opportunity to shoot with her since then. After 1 years of doing business with her, I felt that this was the most luxurious job I've ever been given."
Regarding the title of the photo book, "√25," she said, "Nikaido Fumi gave it to me during the shoot. She thought the symbol for route had a cute impression, and since I'm currently 25, she gave me the title "Route 25" to represent that. I think this book will allow you to get a sense of the journey I've taken so far, as well as my future."
When asked if having Nikaido as the photographer was different from usual gravure shoots, she said, "Whenever I shoot gravure photos, I find myself trying to put on an air when the camera is pointed at me, but this time Nikaido said, 'I want to photograph the real Ohara,' so I let go of all of my pretentious self and left it up to Nikaido."
When asked about her favorite shot, she replied, "I think it was a bold yet delicate photo I've never taken before, so it's my favorite one.It was a method of expression I'd never tried before, so it was fresh and fun to be able to express myself without really knowing how I appeared as a subject."
When asked how she felt about getting the photo book in her hands, she commented, "I think this is a book that I can confidently say is the best it could be. Today, the release date has come safely, and I feel like I've done everything I could for the last year or two with this one book, to the point that I can't think of anything else I want to do."
Regarding her future gravure activities, she revealed, "I feel that I have been saved by the work of gravure modeling and have been able to come this far, so of course I will not announce that I am quitting, and I have no intention of doing so. However, as I have said many times in this issue, I feel that I have done my best, so I would like to have another opportunity to be photographed when my inner self and appearance have changed."
