On November 11th, BEYOOOOONDS, a member of Hello! Project, will hold "BEYOOOOONDS CONCERT 18 AUTUMN "DISCOOOOOTHEQUE BUDOOOOOKAN" at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo.
The band captivated the 9 fans who gathered for the final performance of the tour, which began on Sunday, September 29th, with their passionate performance and diverse productions.
As the excitement of the fans eagerly awaiting the start of the show grew, the background music playing in the venue gradually decreased until only the kick drum sound remained, and then DJ KOO began his narration announcing the start of the show.
As the venue heated up, the show began with the new song "Disco Carnival," which symbolizes the "discotic" theme of the show.
Starting with Kiyono Momohime's shout of "Let's go to Nippon Budokan!", they launched into a flurry of songs with "Seek...The Traveler's Proposition of Fate" and "WORKER Hymn". At the request of the performers themselves, dance parts by Hirai Miho and Satoyoshi Utano were added to "Gannen (Rokunen) Bungee Jump", showing new appeal of the song.
Next, the members started a Parapara lesson. As the members began to dance along with Takase Kurumi's explanation, DJ KOO was shown on screen, saying, "That's DJ KOO over there!", and the venue went wild with excitement.
The light from the mirror ball instantly transformed the stage into a disco-like atmosphere, and the group performed special discotheque versions of songs by its units, including Amenomorikawa Kai's "I Don't Want to Be Treated Like Everyone Else," CHICA#TETSU's "By the Time Takanawa Gateway Station is Built," and SeasoningS' "We Need a Name!"
DJ KOO navigated the crowd with "Hey! Beyond" and "Spicy Love," featuring Kiyono's impressive talkbox, getting the fans even more excited.
After a whirlwind performance with no time to rest, Nishida Shiori began the MC by saying, "Finally, it's time for us to talk slowly!" and once again introduced special guest DJ KOO.
DJ KOO responded, "BEYOOOOODS, you're the best!", and the members expressed their gratitude to him for narrating the tour. Takase touched on the new costumes that were unveiled at the live show, and the group walked around in a circle, eliciting loud cheers from the fans.
Nishida appeared with a rice cooker, saying, "A friend who worked hard with me on the tour. It's no exaggeration to say that I'm the 11th member," and they performed "Never Never Know ~The Love Wars of Rice and Bread~," a song themed on whether you prefer rice or bread. At the end, "Yumepirika," a play on Shimakura's "Rika," excited the fans with a unique performance in which the rice cooker could cook five cups of rice in celebration of the fifth anniversary.
After performing "Go Waist," which had the entire venue excited as everyone waved towels, a video introducing vocal training methods began.
In previous tours, someone would suddenly fall ill during vocal practice and Shimakura would provide first aid, but at Budokan, it was a sequel in which Shimakura and Kobayashi Moeka bumped into each other and switched places.
The performance was unexpected and drew the audience into the world of BEYOOOOONDS, with Kobayashi accompanying them on piano as they performed "Oh! Cantare" and "Hero ~Smile! Chopin Senpai~".
The members excited the audience and the fans watching the live viewing and streaming, and performed "Go City Go" and "Hook's Law", which were released this year. Kobayashi remained on stage alone and played Chopin's "Fantaisie-Impromptu", and the venue seemed to go quiet all at once, but the momentum increased with "Atsui!", "Ash to Diamond", and "Tiger Eyes Tanta Turn". The members and fans started calling "D.N.A!" to the beat and clapping, and before you know it, it changed to "H2O!" calls, and the members took a quick water break. The excitement reached its climax with "Nippon no D.N.A!" and "Tears of Castanet", and the main part ended with Maeda Kokoro's greeting, "See you again tonight!"
As the members appeared in response to fans' calls of "BEYOOOOONDS," an announcement was displayed on the monitor on stage that they would be releasing a new single on January 1th next year.
The fans erupted in cheers at this delightful surprise, and the group performed "Do-DidDone" and "Aa Kimi ni Tensei" back to back, both of which will be included in the single. "DoDid-Done," the third in the study series, was first performed on this day, and is a positive song with an addictive "dudi-dun" phrase and choreography themed on irregular English verb changes. Satoyoshi volunteered to perform "Aa Kimi ni Tensei," and expressed a new side of the group with "Lady BEYOOOOONDS" choreography. It is a difficult song with repeated syncopation and key changes.
After announcing the release of the new song, the members talked about memorable moments from this concert and the hall tour, and Takase said, "I'd like to look back on the past two hours in about six minutes!", starting the "All Songs Digest" that has become a regular feature of BEYOOOOONDS' Budokan concerts. The innovative medley, which allowed fans to experience the live performance again in a short amount of time, included Morning Musume's "Renai Revolution 2," which was not performed during the concert, to entertain the fans, and then the members gave their greetings.
Kiyono, the last teenager in the group, passionately stated, "All my teenage youth is packed into BEYOOOOONDS. Thank you for raising me!", while Okamura Minami expressed her gratitude to the fans, saying, "Each and every interaction with our fans is a memory and helps us grow." Eguchi Saya mentioned that the tour finale will be held at the Budokan for the first time, and expressed her joy, saying, "I'm glad so many people were able to see our stage." Nishida reiterated that the fans are her driving force, saying, "When I think that someone somewhere in the world is cheering for us, I get so much strength. I can do my best because everyone is there," and Maeda smiled and said, "Live shows are the happiest times I've ever had. I think this is the most shining moment of my life."
Satoyoshi, who was in charge of the choreography for the new song, reflected, "It was fun to be able to dance my favorite dance with all my favorite people at Budokan," while Shimakura became emotional as she said, "I'm so happy to be surrounded by such wonderful members, fans, and staff," and revealed that the other members were also crying before the show started.
Kobayashi told the fans, "You will never regret it, so please come visit us anytime in the gentle world of BEYOOOOONDS!", and Hirai renewed his resolve, "We will continue to work hard without getting arrogant." Takase moved to the center stage to hear the fans' voices and said, "Such wonderful miracles have happened because of coincidences and inevitabilities. We will continue to work hard with this miracle in our hearts."
Finally, Takase commented, "This is the finale of DISCOOOOOTHEQUE, but BEYOOOOONDS will continue to move forward!" and they moved on to "Room for Growth ~Beyond the World~".
The group ended the live performance with smiles, giving the impression that they are on the verge of further growth.
The live performance will be available to watch on the online video streaming service Hulu until 12:1 PM on Sunday, December 21st. A documentary that closely follows the rehearsals for the Budokan performance and the actual performance will be available from Saturday, February 00st, 2025. As announced at the concert, the new single "Do-Did-Done/Aa Kimi ni Tensei" will be released on Wednesday, January 2th, so it looks like we'll be keeping our eyes on BEYOOOOONDS' activities in 1 as well.
