Tsubaki Factory's Summer Festival 2024! New members also participated for the first time and the venue was excited with the scorching live performance. Complete report

Tsubaki Factory, a member of Hello! Project, will hold the 2024 performance of their annual summer solo live show "Shakunetsu", "Tsubaki Factory's Summer Festival 2024 ~Shakunetsu~", on August 8th at Kawaguchiko Stella Theater in Yamanashi.

In this report, we will bring you a report on the matinee performance of this special one-day-only live show.

The concept behind this scorching hot live performance was that the members would brainstorm ideas together to create the event, and they planned the songs, costumes, and performances themselves. The performance was uploaded to YouTube, and through a total of eight videos titled "Strategy Meeting," fans were able to see every step leading up to the performance.

New members Ishii Izuha, Murata Yui, and Doi Fuuka, who just joined in February, will be participating in "Shakunetsu" for the first time. In addition, the stage was filled with a festival atmosphere more than usual, with the latest single "Baby Spider/Seishun Exabyte/Kodo OK?", which was just released on August 2th and is the 8th single.

This year's theme was "festival," and Japanese drums, lanterns, and a tower were set up on the stage. The concert started with festival music playing in the venue. When Ono Mizuho, Yagi Shiori, Ishii, Murata, and Doi appeared on stage holding large fans and shouting "Wasshoi! Wasshoi!", the fans responded by shouting "Wasshoi! Wasshoi!", and the venue was already in a festival mood.

The five members appeared on stage and began playing their major debut song "Hatsukoi Sunrise" with Japanese drums, and the remaining members appeared in the audience wearing happi coats. They began singing along to the Japanese drums, and the excitement in the venue quickly reached a climax with the full "Shakunetsu" feel from the beginning.

During the MC after the performance, Ono, Yagi, and Murata shared their thoughts on the Japanese drums. While the other members praised them, saying, "You were so cool!", Murata, who was trying out Japanese drums for the first time, said with a smile, "I had muscle pain the day after the first practice, but I enjoyed it!". Yagi, who was in charge of the Japanese drums for the second time after last year, said, "I was nervous," but when Ono, who played the Japanese drums with him, asked, "You did well, didn't you?", he answered with a strong "Yes!".

When asked about her enthusiasm for today, Runo Yofu said, "It's raining, but I want to sweat a lot and make a rainbow!" From here, we moved on to the corner where the shuffle unit covered Hello! Project songs, which has become a staple of scorching live performances.

The unit pairings were announced in a strategy meeting video, and this year, Yufu, who was drawn as a soloist, was the first to perform. Yufu sang Morning Musume's "Resonant Blue," captivating fans with her excellent singing ability. She performed the important role of soloist and first to perform brilliantly.

Next up was "Fiesta! Fiesta!" (Juice=Juice) by Ami Tanimoto, Yuuki Kawanishi, and Marin Fukuda. Kawanishi sang the opening solo part with great passion, and new members Ishii and Murata carried on the momentum by performing "Say Yeah! - Motto Miracle Night" (Morning Musume). The audience cheered when Tsuji Nozomi and Kago Ai spoke the lines in the original song, and the call-and-response with the fans that followed also stirred up the crowd, putting on a performance that was beyond what you'd expect from newcomers.

Once they were back in full force, they sang "Manatsu no Kousen" (Morning Musume) and "Samba! Tsubaki Janeiro", a Tsubaki-style arrangement of "Samba! Kobushi Janeiro", a song by their rivals Kobushi Factory, who they competed with at the beginning of their debut. During the performance of this song, the members sprayed water on the fans with water guns, creating a festive atmosphere that is fitting for summer. It was a time when not only the fans but also the members themselves were constantly smiling.

Now it was time for the MC to take a moment to talk. They started a collaboration project with their regular show, "Let's Go! Tsubaki Factory." The members who thought they were number one in the rankings created based on a questionnaire they had filled out in advance went to the top of the stage. If they answered correctly, they would receive a luxurious yakiniku bento lunch box as a gift at the next show recording, and everyone was excited.

The first question was incorrect, but the other members begged, "One more time!", and the kindness of leader Tanimoto started a tearful round. In response to the question, "Which member looks best with a peach, a specialty of Yamanashi Prefecture?", Kawanishi, who is from Yamanashi Prefecture, went up to the top of the stage and got the answer right. He successfully won a luxurious yakiniku bento.

Apparently, they had never gotten the answer right during rehearsals, so all the members were excited by this unexpected (!?) result, saying, "We're excited." With that momentum, they went into the second half of the unit song corner.

First, Onoda Sashiori and Doi performed "My Friend's Beautiful Mom Who Works at the Same Hourly Wage" (S/mileage) with utmost cuteness. As Doi said in the strategy meeting video, "Onoda-san looks good in cute songs, so seeing her like that makes me want to grow too," she demonstrated her expressiveness on stage to rival that of her cute senior. Next, Ono, Akiyama Mao, and Yagi performed "Let's Make a Storm Exciting Fight!" (℃-ute) with powerful singing that put the original to shame. Finally, everyone sang Hello! Project's "Natsu LOVE Romance" to finish off the show. It was a shuffle corner that showed off the various personalities and charms of the members.

From here, everyone performed "Stay free & Stay tuned", "Nineteen no Shinkirou", and "Kimi to Boku no Kizuna" in succession. During "Nineteen no Shinkirou", the venue was filled with a festival mood, with autographed goods being shot into the venue with a bazooka.

During the MC, looking back on the shuffle corner, Yu Feng, who was in charge of the solo, confessed the reason for the song selection, saying, "(Because it's summer) I chose the sea-like 'Resonant Blue'." She smiled and said, "I tried to make it look summery with my yukata-like costume." New members Ishii and Murata said, "We chose a song that everyone could get excited about together. We had a lot of fun hearing the cheers!" (Murata), and "I was really nervous, but everyone helped liven things up so it was fun" (Ishii).

The second half of the concert began with the new song "Baby Spider," which Tsubaki Factory just released under their new lineup. Each time a new member joins, the range of performance expands for Tsubaki Factory. This new song, "Baby Spider," is impressive in that it exudes a seductive atmosphere and toughness not seen in previous Tsubaki Factory songs.

Afterwards, they performed "Mousou Dake Nara Freedom" and then performed their new songs "Kodo OK?" and "Seishun Exabyte" in succession. In "Kodo OK?", new member Murata charmed the fans with his dancing skills during the dance interlude. The main part ended with the live staple "Dansha ISM". The main part ended with the fans waving towels together, creating a great atmosphere, and for the encore, the members appeared in yukata robes. The first song was "Idol Tensho Ondo", with the choreography arranged to be a Bon Odori dance. A video of the Bon Odori dance choreography was posted on YouTube in advance so that the audience could dance along with them, and it was impressive to see the fans dancing along with them.

The members then expressed their gratitude to the fans and shared their thoughts about the event.

The three new members, who were participating in Shakunetsu for the first time, spoke frankly of their thoughts, saying, "I felt a lot of emotions, like excitement and nervousness, but we had the best summer together" (Doi), "I was nervous before it started, but the moment we stepped on stage I thought it was fun! It was everyone's cheers that made me feel that way" (Murata), and "I'm happy to be able to perform on the Shakunetsu stage that I've always wanted to perform on. I was nervous, but everyone was looking at me with such warm eyes so I enjoyed it" (Ishii).

Yu Feng said, "It's raining right now, but when I smell rain, it reminds me of the scorching heat of this time," and Fukuda shared his thoughts about this year's stage, saying, "Since this is our third time, we definitely wanted to make it more exciting than last year or the year before. I would be happy if everyone felt the same way."

For the final song, "Idol Tensho Ondo," Yagi performed a solo on Japanese drums. He expressed his gratitude to the fans, saying, "Because I was beating the drums by myself, I could really see all of you! It was wonderful to see you all dancing, looking this way and that." Kawanishi, who serves as an ambassador for her hometown of Yamanashi Prefecture, declared with confidence, "This was my first time experiencing such heat since becoming an ambassador for Yamanashi. I want to work hard so that I can do it again for the fourth and fifth times!"

"The rehearsal period was short, so I think everyone was feeling anxious. But when I watched the shuffle corner, they were showing off their charms to everyone, and I could sense their desire for everyone to love them. It made me feel very warm" (Akiyama), "Shakunetsu is a festival that we all created together. It made me very happy" (Onoda), and "I had a lot of challenges myself, and it was a stage where I could grow" (Ono). The senior members spoke about their feelings for their juniors and their third Shakunetsu Live.

The last performer was the leader, Tanimoto. "It was a lot of fun to create a festival-like stage. It was the best summer ever!" he said, bringing the live to a finale. The last song was "Happy Cracker". At the end, all the members performed a signed ball bazooka, bringing to a close the memory of the happiest summer.

On the day of the performance, the Fujikyu Railway line operated a "Tsubaki Factory Scorching Train" train covered in Tsubaki Factory posters, and the signboards at Kawaguchiko Station, the closest station to the venue, were decorated with Scorching Hot. In addition, various collaboration projects were carried out, such as the sale of commemorative tickets and the members making arrival announcements. Just like last year, it was an impressive performance that involved the excitement of the local community.
